This Friday: Climate Town Hall with Congressman Blumenauer

In Event by OLCVstaff

Can you join us for our Climate Town Hall with Congressman Blumenauer this Friday at noon? Congressman Blumenauer will be answering questions from constituents, and talking about the Build Back Better Act, which is moving towards a vote in the next couple weeks and decides how much Congress will invest in a bold national climate action plan.

Climate action has never been more urgent. According to the IPCC, we’re currently at “a code red for humanity,” and “failure to act on climate is not an option.” We need to cut our emissions by at least 50% by 2030 and put our nation on the path to 100% clean energy by 2035. The Build Back Better Act has the potential to do this, while creating new jobs in clean energy–jobs building electric charging stations, installing solar panels and wind turbines, replacing lead pipes, upgrading buildings, manufacturing electric vehicles, and more. The Build Back Better Act also has the potential to invest in justice, with at least 40% of benefits going to communities that are disproportionately affected by climate change, like low-income communities and communities of color.

Come learn more about the Build Back Better Act–and how you can get involved–from Congressman Blumenauer. Today and tomorrow, the OLCV team will begin selecting which questions from constituents will be answered at the Town Hall. It could be yours! RSVP and submit your question today. We hope to see you this Friday, September 17th at noon.
