The City of Portland is considering two much-needed proposals that would help clean our air and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions–the Healthy Climate Fee and the Clean Air Protection Fee.
Together, these proposals would hold Portland’s largest corporate polluters accountable by making them pay for their fossil fuel pollution. The money raised–as much as $11 million a year–would go toward clean energy investments, helping to create good-paying jobs, reduce air pollution, and transition Portland away from fossil fuels. Send Portland City Council an email and urge them to vote yes on the Healthy Climate and Clean Air Protection Fees!
The Healthy Climate and Clean Air Protection Fees would also serve as an important step in furthering the City of Portland’s Climate Emergency Declaration, a commitment to climate action that prioritizes the communities most impacted by climate change, like Black, Indigenous, and communities of color. Tell the City of Portland to honor their commitment to climate justice and vote yes on the Healthy Climate and Clean Air Protection Fees!
Passing the Healthy Climate and Clean Air Protection Fees would make Portland a national leader, and one of only a few cities nationwide to put a price on fossil fuel pollution, paving the way toward a future with cleaner air, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and healthier communities. Please send an email to Portland City Council and encourage them to vote yes on the Healthy Climate and Clean Air Protection Fees when it goes to a vote!
