Jim Torrey on the Environment
Jim Torrey has a long record casting tie-breaking votes as Eugene Mayor against the environment.
For a great summary, check out this article in the Eugene Weekly.
OLCV produced Eugene City Council Scorecards covering 2001-2005. Six times during that period Torrey cast votes (the Mayor only votes to break a tie). All six times he sided with developers and polluters and against the environment.
In 2006, Torrey ran for State Senate and received more than $170,000 of campaign donations from polluters.
As the Eugene Weekly reports: "Jim Torrey has raked in record-breaking donations from developer, land speculator, sand and gravel, construction, timber, and other special interests who stand to make huge profits from the urban sprawl and freeways he envisions as mayor."
