Media Advisory: Tele-Town-Hall about potential BPA legislation Wednesday night

The Oregon League of Conservation Voters Education Fund invites members of the media to listen in on a conversation between Oregon voters, Oregon's Speaker of the House Dave Hunt and Oregon State Senator Chris Edwards about the opportunity now before the Oregon Legislature to protect our children from the toxic chemical Bisphenol A (BPA).

When: This Wednesday (Feb. 10) at 7 p.m.

Right now, legislators are considering Senate Bill 1032, which would ban the toxic chemical BPA from baby bottles and children’s food containers sold in Oregon. The federal government is concerned about the potential effects of BPA on the brain, behavior, and prostate gland in fetuses, infants, and young children. Recent studies have reported subtle negative effects of low doses of BPA. Passing this ban would make Oregon a national leader in protecting children from toxic chemicals.

There is broad-based support for the ban of BPA now before legislators. This is a chance for Oregonians to connect directly with elected leaders about protecting Oregon's children--and grandchildren--from the harmful effects of toxic chemicals.

OLCV Education Fund, OLCV's sister organization, administers a number of programs that help citizens learn how to make real changes in their community--like improving the quality of their water and air and protecting neighborhoods, farmland, and wildlife.
