Interim Mayor Jeremy Ferguson eeking out a tight win
Milwaukie, OR – The Oregon League of Conservation Voters’ endorsement of candidate Jeremy Ferguson made all the difference in the race to be Milwaukie’s next mayor. Ferguson, currently serving as Interim Mayor, leads his opponent by 31 votes –with few votes left to be counted – in the bid to lead the city through future challenges.
“Without OLCV, I don’t know if I would be standing here today with a 31-vote lead. It is safe to say that they helped secure this close victory,” Ferguson said today.
Like many cities in the region, Milwaukie is facing big questions about how the city will responsibly grow and develop. OLCV looked to endorse the candidate that would have a commitment to balancing these challenges with the need for a strong local economy, clean air, clean water, transportation choices for all citizens, and green spaces for our families. OLCV endorsed Ferguson for his ability to create dialogue and build bridges around these important regional issues, as well as his commitment to building a livable Milwaukie.
In addition to endorsing Ferguson, OLCV staff worked closely with the candidate in the weeks leading up to the election to develop a grassroots campaign plan that focused on direct contact with Milwaukie voters. That work paid off in votes.
The Oregon League of Conservation Voters works to protect the environment by electing pro-environment candidates to office and holding those officials accountable.

I vote for pro-environmental candidates because we can’t afford to sacrifice long-term stewardship for short-term gains.
