OLCV e-bulletin: Happy New Year! Get ready for 2010!

Date:
December 31, 2009

Vote YES for a Clean and Healthy Oregon.

Have you gotten your Voters' Pamphlet yet? If not, it will be arriving any day, and Oregon voters around the state will start receiving their ballots at the end of next week.

That means it's time to get busy. We have only three and a half weeks left to make sure Oregon voters vote YES on Measures 66 and 67.

These measures will impact Oregon's environmental legacy for generations to come. If Measures 66 and 67 don't pass, programs we depend on face possible cuts--programs that protect our air, water and forests, and ensure that we are able invest in clean energy and local jobs.

Help us win! Here's how:

OLCV is working hard to talk to voters. In fact, OLCV alone has recruited nearly 100 volunteers to date, and we've already talked to thousands of voters. But we've still got a lot of work to do.
The time is now. Election Day is January 26. We need your help to win!

Election 2010: OLCV's first endorsements

While OLCV is working hard to pass Measures 66 and 67 in January, OLCV's county chapters are far into 2010 election work on a variety of races, taking the necessary steps to get pro-environment candidates elected. We've already weighed in on two county commission seats, a Metro seat, Salem Mayor, and a Marion County initiative. We're working on other endorsements around the state.

Check out the growing list of OLCV endorsements for the May 2010 primary.

Check out a blog about the work ahead in Marion County.

As if the special election in January and the primary in May weren't enough, OLCV and the Oregon Conservation Network, the coalition of more than 40 environmental groups coordinated by OLCV, are also gearing up for the short Legislative session that lasts just the four short weeks of February. We'll soon be laying out the specifics about what we'll be working on, but here are a couple of hints: Less toxic baby bottles, protected coastal habitat, and better transportation choices.

The best way to stay up to date on session happenings is to sign up for SalemWatch. Published weekly during the session, SalemWatch details important and timely environmental developments in the Legislature and lets you know when you need to contact your legislators.
