T-minus 18: Time is running out to spread the word

There are 18 days left until Election Day. The numbers look good in many races across the country. But what about right here in Oregon?

We have a unique opportunity to sweep in an unprecedented number of pro-environment leaders to state, county and city office this year.

With a record number of first time voters who are focused on the Presidency, it's critical that we step up our outreach to educate these thousands of new voters in order to make sure they cast informed votes down the whole ballot.

One on one personal contact is the best way to reach these voters. Help OLCV reach out to thousands of voters before they cast their votes. Visit our calendar of events now and sign up to talk to voters in key districts about the candidates that deserve their support.

Friends don't let friends cast uninformed votes

I would like to remind you to share OLCV's endorsements with your friends and family. It's fast and easy and it could even help decide a close race! As you know, word of mouth recommendations from trusted personal sources are particularly important for local races.

Just click on your county below and copy and paste the list of OLCV endorsements (including ballot measure information) with a short note into an email to your friends and family who live in your county. Challenge the Candidates: Asking the tough questions

Challenge the candidates running for office in your district. Let's hold them accountable.

The next time a candidate calls you or visits you at your door, or if you attend a town hall where he/she is speaking, ask them:

"If elected, would you support legislation to promote clean energy jobs by placing a mandatory cap on global warming pollution?

We need to get the candidates on record while they are running for office so we can hold them accountable once they are elected. We're counting on you - our supporters - to help us out.

Email Tresa your candidate's answer and she'll post your response on our blog, OLCV Talk.

A Photo Story from Hell's Canyon

This photo was taken by Pete Sandrock a little bit north of Hat Point on the Hell's Canyon High Trail (Tr. # 1751).

It displays the grand scale of Hell's Canyon highlighted by the beauty of the native grasses.
Thank you, Pete, for sharing this beautiful photo taken in May 2006

October Trivia Question

Question: September 29th was the deadline for supporters of Oregon marine reserves to turn in their proposals to the state. There was only one proposed reserve site initiated by commercial fishermen, the people who would be most directly affected by a marine reserve designation, in a prime fishing area. Where is it?

Congratulations to Walt Mintkeski.

Walt was the first to respond with the correct answer to last month's trivia question.
