Washington County could see an interesting state Senate contest
Many Washington County voters will be treated this year to an interesting state Senate race in District 15, which covers Hillsboro, Cornelius, Forest Grove and North Plains.
Incumbent Sen. Bruce Starr, R-Hillsboro, will face a challenge in November's general election.
Just who that challenger will be depends upon the outcome of May primary.
Filings with the Secretary of State indicate Rep. Chuck Riley, D-Hillsboro, will duke it out (not literally) with Democrat Travis Comfort.
Riley has already gained a key endorsement from the Oregon League of Conservation Voters.
There's still about 90 minutes to go before the 5 p.m. filing deadline, so it's possible another candidate could also jump in.
Protection of remaining intact wilderness for its intrinsic value to all living inhabitants is as noble and worthy a goal as any development could possibly be. That's why we support organizations such as OLCV and our political representatives who work hard to protect Oregon's natural legacy.
