Republicans split on environmental debate

The Oregonian's Jeff Mapes on Politics Does it make sense for a Republican gubernatorial candidate in Oregon to participate in a debate sponsored by four of the state's major environmental groups?
We'll find out next month. GOP candidate Allen Alley, a high-tech entrepreneur, has agreed to join Democrats John Kitzhaber and Bill Bradbury at a March 30 debate sponsored by the Oregon League of Conservation Voters, the Oregon chapter of the Sierra Club, Environment Oregon and the Oregon Environmental Council.
