Help elect pro-environment lawmakers statewide

September 22, 2010

You may not live in the district where Susan Sokol Blosser or Chuck Riley is running for a seat in the Oregon House or Senate, but whether they win or not definitely affects you. That's because the Oregon Legislature ends up deciding on many of the environmental safeguards that make Oregon a great place to live--from the landmark beach and bottle bills of the 1970s to the moratorium on oil drilling off Oregon's coast that passed just this past February.

As you know, there are many races around the state key to preserving Oregon's natural legacy. We are asking for everyone's help to ensure the environment wins in November, and that means you! Take OLCV's Pledge to Volunteer (a tiny committment of just three hours between now and Election Day) and then sign up for your shift. Read on to find out how!

OLCV has made more than 100 endorsements for the November election, and now we are teaming up with other groups, including AFL-CIO, AFSCME, Oregon Education Association, Planned Parenthood, SEIU and Stand for Children, in a coordinated statewide phonebank effort to elect environmental leaders all over the state.

And that's where you come in. Join us for an evening when, as we combine resources and target our calls, you can help us call through an entire district for one legislative candidate in one night. This is a new program and we are very excited to be part of this effort. Click on a date below for more information and to sign up, or go to www.olcv.org/events.
