Final Push for Lane County Commission Races - Find out how you can help get this done!
You have your ballot, right? And you've voted? Of course you have! But there are many people that have not yet voted. We need your help to remind them to get their ballots in and vote for these great candidates.
The races for the Springfield and West Lane County Commission seats will determine whether the commission maintains a pro-environment majority, and will ensure that the commission continues to prioritize conservation values as it grapples with issues of growth, transportation, land use and forest management.
OLCV is pulling out all the stops to elect Pat Riggs-Henson and Jerry Rust in May, not only to maintain a pro-environment majority but also to avoid a costly runoff in November. A little bit about each candidate …
Pat Riggs-Henson for Springfield Lane County Commission
OLCV is teaming up with a number of other progressive groups to help elect Pat. Pat is a long time local labor leader and we look forward to having a strong voice on the commission who can foster a blue-green alliance to bring sustainable green jobs to Lane County.

Jerry Rust for West Lane County Commission
Jerry is a true environmental champion who has the experience and passion to fight for conservation issues on the County Commission. Because of this, it is clear that the anti-environment interests are gunning for Jerry; the Register-Guard printed a story on March 27 that highlights who is supporting Jay Bozievich, Jerry’s main opponent. He is being heavily supported by developers, construction and timber interests who are probably frustrated that they can’t rely on a rubber stamp from the commission.
We need to elect Jerry to ensure the pro-environment majority on the council remains strong!

Protection of remaining intact wilderness for its intrinsic value to all living inhabitants is as noble and worthy a goal as any development could possibly be. That's why we support organizations such as OLCV and our political representatives who work hard to protect Oregon's natural legacy.
