2008: Opportunities and challenges in this critical election year

Sunshine

With the general election mere weeks away, we have the opportunity to do our part to protect the planet so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy healthier, greener lives.

Don't let this opportunity pass you by! Volunteer with OLCV to help pro-environment candidates around the state and help reach out to the thousands of new voters who have been inspired by Barack Obama to become involved in the political process.

Help make sure these new voters vote down the whole ballot (and not just for President) – with information about which local candidates they can trust to promote a healthy environmental legacy for Oregon.

Check out our calendar and sign up to volunteer now! While you're there you can RSVP for one of our upcoming events.

2008 Election Preview

We had a great start to the 2008 Elections. Environmental voters were highly engaged in this year's primary election with voter turnout higher than ever.

This year we have the opportunity to have a lasting impact on Oregon’s air, water and land.

We have a tremendous opportunity to reach out to the tens of thousands of new voters that have been inspired by Barack Obama to become involved in the political process.  But we must make sure they vote the whole ballot (and not just for President) – with information about which local candidates they can trust to promote a healthy environmental legacy for Oregon.

If we succeed in sweeping in a larger majority in the House, it will significantly improve the odds that the 2009 Legislature has the political will to tackle global warming and other significant environmental challenges facing the state.

Find out who earned our endorsement so you can vote pro-environment this November.

You can help support pro-environment candidates today by making a gift to OLCV.

Overheard...

Envisioning a greener Oregon is a pleasant way to pass the time, but it’s not much more than that without practical tools for anchoring our goals in public policy. OLCV has consistently and effectively provided those tools; if it hadn’t our landscape would look very different today.

- Jeff Golden, long-time OLCV supporter
