OLCV has endorsed Jerry Rust for West Lane County Commissioner

West Lane County is facing challenges, from transportation and land-use to growth, and forest management. We need pro-environment leaders who will approach these issues with conservation at the forefront.

Electing Jerry Rust helps to ensure that the Lane County Commission prioritizes conservation values.

If elected, Jerry will work to:

• Support renewable and alternative energy production
• Enhance the management of natural resources including forests and watersheds
• Actively support local food production, storage, security, and distribution

In 2006, OLCV worked hard to get an environmentally friendly candidate into office in this district, and we will continue to work hard not to go backward. Jerry is running on his experience --experience that no one else in his race has. Jerry was on the Board of Lane County Commissioners for 20 years when he was the only pro-environment voice on the board. If OLCV had scored Jerry's votes, he would have scored 100%.

OLCV is also endorsing Pat Riggs-Henson in the Lane County Commission. Together, Pat and Jerry can help preserve and expand a pro-conservation majority in the commission that will protect the area's unique natural legacy and quality of life.
