Dick Schouten for Washington County Chair

OLCV has endorsed Dick Schouten for Washington County Chair

Washington County voters have a rare opportunity to elect an environmental champion who has spent the last 20 years working to improve livability in Washington  County communities by protecting our natural areas and greenspaces and connecting our communities by improving pedestrian and bike access.

Dick Schouten (pictured here with his bike at Crater Lake) has the leadership skills and vision in a region that is grappling with tough questions about how to balance the needs of the community with the demands of development. As a Washington County Commissioner, Dick has scored 100 percent on OLCV's scorecards.

  • Dick will protect the farms and forests that are an integral part of both the economy and the natural legacy of Washington County.
  • Dick will work to reduce commuting time for the county's residents by offering more transportation choices.
  • Dick will help the county develop with density, protecting the region from costly sprawl and making sure our tax dollars are spent keeping our neighborhoods clean and healthy.
  • Dick will promote job growth and smart development.
