Let’s Take The Clean Energy Jobs Bill Over The Finish Line!

In Climate Change by OLCVstaff

Ten years. That’s how long our amazing coalition of climate activists have been working to pass the Clean Energy Jobs bill. That’s how long people like you and me have been showing up at public hearings, and emailing our legislators, and writing op-eds. That’s how long we’ve been fighting for an equitable, renewable energy future here in Oregon, and for climate action that will benefit all Oregonians.

All of that hard work has brought us to these final moments—the Clean Energy Jobs bill (HB 2020) is so close to becoming a reality! Will you help us get it over the finish line?

HB 2020 is currently being reviewed by the Ways and Means Committee. After it passes through Ways and Means, it will go to the State House of Representatives for its first round of voting, and then on to the State Senate. If it passes both of those, Governor Brown will have the chance to sign it into law. But we only have about a month left in the legislative session—can you write an email to your legislators, and ask them to bring the Clean Energy Jobs bill to the House floor for a vote as soon as possible?

In less than a month’s time, the Clean Energy Jobs bill could become law. In less than a month, we could have a solid, equitable plan for climate action here in Oregon. In less than a month, we could become an example for other states, and start a trend of taking bold climate action when it matter most. But it all starts here. Will you help us make sure that the Clean Energy Jobs bill goes to the floor soon for a vote?
