OLCV e-bulletin: Meet the Candidates, My OLCV and don't forget to vote

OLCV E-bulletin Appeal Update:  There’s Still Time to Give!

Thanks to all of you who have given in the last few days to last week's e-bulletin appeal to support OLCV PAC in honor of Oregon’s 149th Birthday!

We’re especially thankful to the donor who was inspired to give a generous $149 in response to the appeal!

But we welcome contributions of all sizes to help us meet our goal of $1,500 to help OLCV PAC elect pro-environment candidates this year. Please take a moment now to make a contribution of $100, $50, $35 or whatever you can afford to OLCV PAC on our secure server.

After decades of stalemates and rollbacks to landmark laws that protected Oregon's precious rivers and streams, family farms, healthy forests and beautiful vistas, last year OLCV helped get Oregon back on track.

Make a contribution now to help us do even more.

Landmark environmental legislation was passed in the 2007 Legislative Session because Oregonians elected a pro-environment majority to Oregon legislative leadership in 2006.  But in the House this majority is just ONE SEAT.  If we lose this majority in 2008, we will return to the days of playing defense and lose momentum in 2009.

With the critical 2008 elections around the corner, take a moment now to show how much you love Oregon and make a contribution to OLCV!

Thank you!

OLCV endorses Greg Macpherson for Oregon Attorney General

Greg MacphersonLast week, OLCV proudly endorsed Greg Macpherson for Attorney General.

Macpherson has a long and proven track record of working to protect Oregon's environment and has demonstrated exceptional leadership in defending Oregon's environmental legacy. He worked tirelessly to create a fix to the land-use debacle Measure 37 which, as Measure 49, was passed by the voters last fall.

We are confident Macpherson's experience and commitment will help  protect Oregon's farms, forests and natural beauty against future threats.

With his deep knowledge of land use laws, his ability to work with the Governor, his experience in the Oregon Legislature and his commitment to fight the hard battles when it comes to protecting Oregon's environment: we believe Greg Macpherson is the best qualified to be Oregon's next Attorney General.

Visit Greg's website to learn more about his campaign.

Keeping it local: City and County elections

City and county officials are particularly crucial in implementing Measure 49 and other land use policies, in making decisions about our drinking water, and creating and managing parks.  OLCV is one of the only organizations in Oregon that gets involved in local races to support pro-environment candidates for city and county government.

Several of our County Chapters are issuing local city/county environmental scorecards this month to let you and your neighbors know which local officials are taking their environmental responsibilities seriously.

Visit our website to view the newly released:

 - 2006-2007 Lane County Commission Scorecard
 - 2006-2007 Eugene City Council Scorecard

Check back soon to find out how local officials scored in Washington County.
