Early Endorsements

Early Endorsements are here!

OLCV's early endorsements are given to candidates who have a proven environmental record and will go above and beyond to protect Oregon's environment.

Legislators who earned 100% on the 2007 Environmental Scorecard for Oregon's Legislature and are running for re-election in their current seat receive an automatic endorsement from OLCV.

So who are these environmental champions?

Find out here.

OLCV endorsement

We're hopeful that the 2007 session was just a sign of things to come. In January and February we'll be busy interviewing candidates as part of our endorsement process. Look for the full slate of OLCV endorsements by the end of March.

In the meantime, find out who's earned the OLCV endorsement in prior years here.

An odd, even numbered year

Did you know that Oregon is one of only six states in which the Legislature meets only every other year? The remaining 44 state legislatures meet annually. To test the viability of annual sessions, this year the Oregon Legislature is holding a special session for just the month of February.
The Special Session is going to be fast and efficient. As during the “normal” sessions, OLCV will be in Salem every day, watchdogging for any unexpected threats, and monitoring what happens around issues of importance to our members.

Stay on top of what OLCV is working on and what's happening in Salem.  Sign up for SalemWatch, the Oregon Conservation Network's (OCN) email newsletter.

Also, visit the Legislature’s website to see committee hearing schedules and find out more about bills in play.

There's still one week left to submit a photo of your photogenic, four-legged, furry friend with a brief essay of why you think your dog is more than just another pretty face (50 words max).

Elkhorn Destination Resort?

What would you like to see next to the Elkhorn golf course?

A 150-lot residential subdivision?
46 condominiums?
A 120-seat restaurant with 5 associated “lodging” units?
A separate 40-room hotel?

That's what the Elkhorn Golf & Resort LLC would like you to see.

Please join us and tell the Marion County Planning Commission you don't share this vision. We hope to fill the room to remind the Commission that we are their true constituents, not the developer's high-priced consultants and attorneys.  Come early and grab a seat in the front!

WHEN: February 5, 6:30 PM
WHERE: First floor hearing room, County Office Building, 555 Court St NE.

Email Sid Friedman for more information or call 503-371-7261.
