OLCV e-bulletin Special Edition

The 2007 Legislative Session is Over!

One of Oregon's most pro-environment legislative sessions in the last 30 years wrapped up just moments ago.

We are thrilled to report that, thanks to your help, several significant bills passed that will help combat global warming, promote sustainable energy, and protect our natural heritage and our health. Read about our legislative priorities.
But despite this historic progress, too many legislators are still voting the wrong way.
For example, the bill to reform Measure 37 and protect our best farmland, forestlands, and groundwater from over-development passed by one vote only.

Now that the session is over, we must let Oregonians know how their legislators voted.  Did your Representative vote to expand alternative energy in Oregon?  Or did he listen to oil lobbyists and vote for the status quo?  Did she vote to help keep toxic pollution out of our rivers and streams?  Or vote to put our children's health at risk?

This is Where OLCV's Scorecard Comes In.
Next week we'll start the painstaking process of compiling and evaluating legislative votes for our 2007 Scorecard.  But we need your help to get this project done.

I hope you'll consider giving a gift of $35, $50, or $100 now

to support OLCV's Scorecard and help us distribute it far and wide!

OLCV's Environmental Scorecard on the Oregon Legislature shows how our elected officials voted on bills that would help or harm our environment, so voters know who deserves their vote in the next election.
And nothing better demonstrates the need for us to elect more pro-environment Legislators than the Measure 37 Reform vote.  Just one vote in the other direction, and we’d face at least one more year of delay in dealing with the worst effects Measure 37.

Your support now will also help OLCV prepare for the special

November election to reform Measure 37.

Reforming Measure 37 is a Priority.

We are inspired by the successes of the 2007 Session and prepared to dig in our heels for a very busy summer and fall.

Your gift of $35, $50, $100 or more will help OLCV recruit hundreds of volunteers to help pass Measure 37 reform.  It will help us produce and distribute our Scorecard to thousands of voters.  With your support we'll prepare to elect more pro-environment candidates to local and state offices in the 2008 elections.

Oregon is once again being recognized as an environmental leader.

Let's make sure 2007 is just the beginning! Thank you!
