No Room for Rollbacks!

Thank you for urging the Governor to veto the last minute attempt to raid Oregon’s energy trust to pay off debt for OMSI.

It worked!

Last Friday, the AP reported that Kulongoski agreed with environmentalists and utility ratepayer advocates as he vetoed the proposal to take $4.6 million out of an energy efficiency program to help the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry pay off a state energy loan.

Kulongoski did the right thing. It would have been grossly inappropriate to use utility ratepayer money that's set aside to help households and businesses buy efficient appliances and solar panels pay off to pay off a loan at the science museum in Portland.

Congratulations to Governor Kulongoski and everyone that urged the Gov to do the right thing.

Thank Governor Kulongoski!

Measure 37 reform? 25 by 25?

Find out how your State Representative or Senator voted on the environmental issues that are important to you. Our 2007 Environmental Scorecard will be unveiled this September.  See how your legislators voted in the past at our website.

It was an exciting year so stay tuned!

And we want to see it.

We’re looking for pretty pictures of Oregon’s unique landscapes (with or without people) to post on our website or in our OLCV publications. Our ideal photos will showcase Oregon’s most special places: a snow capped Sister, a secret waterfall in a thriving rainforest, sun breaking through Ponderosa Pines on a hot summer day, or just that perfect shot from a stroll on the beach.
Let’s see what you got!

Send your digital photos to Tresa by August 29.
We will announce our picks in the next e-bulletin.

Commit 3 days to protect Oregon's legacy.

3 days to volunteer, 9 hours of your time. Your reward? A better Oregon for you and your family.

We're asking all of our members to commit at least 3 hours out of 3 days of the next 45 days to support the Measure 49 campaign.

And we're going big. We're working overtime to sign up 100 new volunteers by this time next Thursday. Help us reach our goal.

Sign up to canvass or phone bank in your neigborhood below.

Please join your neighbors and our efforts and answer the call to protect Oregon.

Join US Representative Earl Blumenauer and your neighbors in an ongoing conversation about the future of our state, as Envision Oregon Round Two comes to Portland.

The conversation will focus on issues that are critically important to the Metro area.

  • How would Measure 37 affect traffic, sprawl, and overall quality of life?
  • How do we balance individual rights and community interests in the long term?
This event will feature interactive round table conversations and discuss new ideas in a hands-on workshop format.

When: Saturday, September 8, 9:30 am: Registration begins

Where: Oregon Convention Center Portland Ballroom

Sue-Del McCulloch is a member of the OCLV Steering Committee in Multnomah County and her mom Sue-Del Sr. is a wonderful painter who has been painting regional landscapes for the past twenty-five years.

We are proud to announce that her work will be featured in Portland, this September, at the Waterstone Gallery.

Land Values
is a small series of landscape paintings presented as a meditation on the remaining open forest and farmlands of the Willamette Valley.  These lands are part of the very fabric, character and environmental heath of Oregon but unfortunately much of it is being rapidly replaced by large commercial developments allowed under Measure 37.
Please come out and show your support as art and the environment come together.  10% of the sales from this series will be donated to the Oregon League of Conservation Voters and the Nature Conservancy.
