Hanten Day is running for state representative in Oregon House District 19, covering parts of Salem, Aumsville, Turner and surrounding areas.

I urge those in his district who voted for Measure 49 in November to vote for Day. Measure 49 honed down Measure 37, which would have allowed massive development on farm and forest land.

M49 passed handily in HD19. Hanten Day supported M49. However, his opponent, Kevin Cameron, voted against HD19's interests by voting to not allow M49 to be on the ballot. Luckily, Cameron and his cronies were outvoted.

On related issues, Cameron has a dismal voting record. His scores from the Oregon League of Conservation Voters were only 12 percent and 45 percent in the last two legislative sessions.

If HD19 voters want to preserve what they voted for with M49, they should vote for Day because a task force called "The Big Look" will be trying to mess with our land-use laws during the 2009 session.

Cameron is out of touch with his constituents. Hanten Day will hold regular town hall meetings if elected.

Day is holding these now on the 19th day (HD19DAY) of every month and will make it a district tradition.
