Conservation Voters raise funds, teach about sustainable seafood with dinner
Tickets
are available for the annual Lincoln County Chapter of the Oregon
League of Conservation Voters (OLCV) Sustainable Seafood Bake - the
event previously known as the Salmon and Tuna Extravaganza. This marks
OLCV's sixth year of hosting the fundraiser, which features a gourmet
meal of local sustainable seafood, a silent auction, and live
entertainment.
The event begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at Café Mundo in Newport.
Many
residents are familiar with the tough times facing the local fishing
industry, with the future of fishing uncertain, and many changes to
local fishing practices expected. To generate more awareness about the
need for sustainable fishing and to help more people understand that it
is easy and fun to eat sustainably, the local OLCV decided to rename
their event.
Tickets are $30, which covers a delicious sustainable seafood dinner, including a choice of ling cod or oysters with salad and dessert, prepared by Chef Laurie Card from Cafe Mundo, and an entry to the silent auction. The silent auction will feature a variety of original artwork, goods, and services donated by local artists and merchants. Joe Jordon will provide live music throughout the afternoon.
Tickets are available online at www.olcv.org/lincoln, with a limited number of tickets available at the door the day of the event.
Café Mundo is located at 711 NW 2nd Court in Newport. To purchase tickets in advance, donate an auction item, or find out more about the event, visit the website, or call Rolla Cleaver at 867-4872.
