Democratic attorney general candidate Greg Macpherson won the endorsement of the Oregon League of Conservation Voters.

"Greg Macpherson has an outstanding record of fighting for Oregon's environment," said OLCV Executive Director Jonathan Poisner. "We know he will take on polluters and over-zealous developers, because that's what he's already done."

Macpherson's Democratic Primary opponent, law professor John Kroger, already landed the endorsement of the Sierra Club, another heavy weight enviro group.

Maybe this evens the score.

OLCV noted that Macpherson co-wrote Measure 49, the 2006 ballot that scaled back an earlier property-rights initiative that environmentalists said would have allowed development to ruin prime farm and forest lands.

Macpherson and Kroger are seeking to replace Attorney General Hardy Myers, who is not seeking re-election. With a month to go before the filing deadline, no Republican candidate is running.

Political observers speculate that former Rep. Kevin Mannix, R-Salem, will jump into the race. Mannix has said in the past that he would not rule it out.
