Elections & Endorsements
*Special note regarding Oregon's First Congressional District Election (January 2012):
OLCV does not issue endorsements in federal elections. Therefore, we are not issuing an endorsement in the primary or general election for this race. The League of Conservation Voters, our national partner that does work on federal races, has endorsed candidate Suzanne Bonamici for Congressional District 1.
At the end of the most anti-environment session of the U.S. House, we look forward to Suzanne Bonamici continuing her steadfast commitment to protecting public health and our environment in Congress as Oregon's next representative of Oregon's first district.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each election season, OLCV works to elect pro-environment candidates to all levels of government in Oregon -- from the Governor's office and legislative races, to county commission and city council races, down to Soil and Water Districts, local water boards, and so on.
OLCV's election work includes a formal endorsement process. In addition, the organization has chapters in seven Oregon counties run by dedicated volunteers who provide the grassroots force of OLCV's election work.
A candidate earns an OLCV endorsement with a proven track record on environmental issues. Once a candidate is endorsed by OLCV, OLCV’s Political Action Committee may support the campaign with staff time, volunteers and other resources.
The OLCV seal of approval is sought by candidates at all levels of government in Oregon. That’s because OLCV is seen as a highly credible source of information on candidates’ environmental records. When we communicate with voters, they listen.
