2007 Salmon Festival

Multnomah County Steering Committee will be tabling 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 13 and 14

Please stop by our table at Salmon Fest this weekend to pick up materials for Measure 49 and to meet our volunteers! We will be at the festival all weekend. Here are the details:

For thousands of years, fall Chinook salmon have struggled upstream from the Pacific Ocean to return to their birthplace in the Sandy River Gorge and give life to the next generation. The annual Salmon Festival at Oxbow Regional Park celebrates this special connection between people and wild salmon and inspires us to value clean water and healthy watersheds.

The Salmon Festival offers interactive cultural exhibits, salmon walks, engaging activities for children, arts and crafts demonstrations, music and storytelling, horse-drawn wagon rides, ancient forest hikes, a salmon barbecue and a food court. Don’t be afraid of those clouds – the festival is “weatherized” with entertainment, exhibits, children’s activities and food areas under cover

  • Oxbow Regional Park is located within the Sandy River Gorge, 8 miles east of Gresham. From I-84, take the Troutdale exit (17). Go past the truck stop to the light. Turn right on 257th, go 3 miles to Division Street. Turn left onto Division. Follow the signs 6.5 miles and turn left. Follow the road to the park.

  • Multnomah County Fall Dinner

    Featuring State Representative Ben Cannon

    Location: Ciao Vito!

2203 NE Alberta, Portland, OR US

    When: Tuesday, September 25, 6:15PM

    Phone: (503) 224-4011

Please join us for an evening of exquisite Italian food, wine, and fun as we gather together to raise awareness and funds essential to continuing OLCV Multnomah County work. In addition to electing pro-environment candidates, we will be working to pass Ballot Measure 49 (aka - fix Measure 37).

BM 49 will preserve Oregon's scenic natural areas and groundwater and protect the rights of small landowners, while closing loopholes that allow unrestrained and environmentally harmful development.

The sumptuous 3 course dinner will include a glass of wine, animated conversation and an excuse to get out those party clothes! The cost of the dinner is $75, a portion of which is eligible for the $50 Oregon Tax Credit.

To RSVP and make payments arrangements call or email Meredith at OLCV (503) 224-4011.

    September Art Show

    When: 9/4 - 9/30

Where: Waterstone Gallery - 424 NW 12th Ave

Sue-Del McCulloch is a painter who shows at the Waterstone gallery in the Pearl.

She has a solo show at the gallery this month, with the opening reception tomorrow, Thursday September 6, from 6-9 pm. Not only are the works especially strong and already receiving critical acclaim, but the artist has decided to donate a portion of the sales price to the OLCV and Nature Conservancy, and is dedicating her show to the fight for M. 49 to reform m.37

'Land Values' is a small series of landscape paintings as meditation on the remaining open forest and farmlands of the Willamette Valley, many of which are being rapidly replaced by large commercial developments now allowed by Measure 37. These lands are part of the very fabric, character and environmental heath of Oregon.

Acrylic paint is repeatedly laid down in pure tube form and scrubbed into the canvas with stiff brushes. The resulting thin layers are a means of achieving transparency and luminosity with the material. Sue-Del McCulloch has been painting regional landscape for the past twenty-five years.

Ten percent of sales from this series will go to support the Oregon League of Conservation Voters and the Nature Conservancy.
