URGENT UPDATE!

The Elkhorn subdivision is near the top of the Board of Commissioner's agenda this Wednesday, October 15.  Meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 AM so this should come up before 9:30.

The Great Elkhorn debate is nearly closed.  The Elkhorn project is a planned destination resort tucked into the North Santiam Canyon and would  expand the 18-hole Elkhorn Valley Golf Course into a developed recreational complex known as Elkhorn Estates. The plan includes 150 homes,
condominiums, a restaurant, meeting space, fitness center and a 40-room hotel.

Read more about it here.

The Marion County Board of Commissioners has scheduled a work session at 9 AM on Wednesday October 15 to discuss the issues surrounding the Elkhorn subdivision with their staff.  It is important to pack the room and get as many people to attend as possible.  This will help the board understand the depth of concern and opposition to the subdivision.

Let's pack the room!

Transportation

As Salem grows, so will traffic. Marion County OLCV is looking forward to working with local officials to encourage multi-modal transportation, promoting bicycling and walking and improving public transportation.

Congestion inevitably leads to polluted air.  Fortunately, we can work toward responsible transportation solutions that can help keep Salem's air clean and traffic flowing. The Marion County Chapter plans to help elect candidates that offer innovative and effective solutions to Salem's growing pains.

Global warming

Global warming is an urgent and growing crisis that threatens Oregon’s environment and economy in numerous ways. In 2007, Legislators voted to write into state law official goals for reducing Oregon’s contribution of greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere.

Tell the Salem City Council it's time to get in step with voter's values!

Email Mayor Taylor now and encourage her to sign the Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement.

Tell her you want Salem to join the hundreds of cities across the nation, including the 13 other cities in Oregon in taking a stand to curb emissions that are leading to the dangerous warming of our planet.
