The Georgia Pacific mill in Toledo has re-applied for an air permit from the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). (Click here to find out what local citizens are doing about it.)
As the permit is reviewed, this is your opportunity to submit your comments.
Please take a moment to email the DEQ the following:
- Thank the DEQ for holding permit renewal hearings both in Newport and Toledo, making them more accessible to many people who might otherwise not have attended. Ask that all future hearings for both air and water permits for Georgia Pacific, be held in both locations.
- Tell
the DEQ that emission levels are already too high and should be
reduced, given the reports of adverse health effects and Lincoln
County's high cancer rates.
- Ask the DEQ to require Georgia-Pacific to pay for ambient air monitoring at various locations downwind of the mill. People should have the right to know what is in the air that the breath.
Please take a moment to email the above comments and any additional comments you may have to the DEQ. Comments are due by 5:00pm, November 4, 2005.
