TONIGHT: Drown out the Tea Party!
Plans in the works to outnumber global-warming naysayers
Since the defacing of Keller Auditorium in the wee hours last night--a sort--of makeshift welcome mat for the global-warming naysayers and a foreshadowing of tonight's "Tea Party" outside Keller--the community is striking back with force.
Conservation groups get the word out
The Twitterverse is exploding with 140-character rally cries from our friends at the Oregon Environmental Council, Climate Solutions, Environment Oregon and others to show up in support of Gore and his message--even if you're not going in to hear him speak. Repower America is asking folks to meet up under the “Keller Auditorium” sign at the corner of SW Clay and SW 3rd Ave. at 6 p.m. They're collecting RSVPs here.
The rumbling Tweets got the attention of Natural Oregon, which already has two posts about the growing momentum to drown out the teabaggers.
Yes on 66 and 67 = Yes to fighting global warming
We're hearing about another rally in the works put together by folks who want to get the word out about the tax-fairness measures Oregonians will be voting on in January.
What's the connection? It's pretty simple, really. If these important tax-fairness measures don't pass, Oregon will see cuts to environmental programs critical to curbing our state's global-warming pollution, as well as investments in local clean energy buisinesses that create good jobs for Oregon families. At a time when Oregon needs stable jobs and energy independence, we just can’t afford to go backward.
Find out more about how these measures impact Oregon's environmental legacy tomorrow on a live blog with OLCV executive director Jon Isaacs.
Tax-fairness ralliers are dressing in their fanciest duds are meeting up at 411 NE 19th Ave. at 5pm and then heading over to Keller. For more info, contact Nate Gulley at 216-288-5418 .
Protection of remaining intact wilderness for its intrinsic value to all living inhabitants is as noble and worthy a goal as any development could possibly be. That's why we support organizations such as OLCV and our political representatives who work hard to protect Oregon's natural legacy.
