These are exciting times!

What are you doing to make sure Oregon stays healthy and beautiful?

Start by learning more about some of the candidates OLCV is working for in the May primary.  Then choose one to help.

North Lane County:  Rob Handy is challenging incumbent Bobby Green for the Lane County Commission.   Green has a poor track record on the Commission siding with developers most of the time on critical votes,  promoting sprawl and overdevelopment on farmland.  His average rating on OLCV's Lane County Scorecard over the last two cycles was just 33%.  Rob Handy is a great alternative.  Rob has been a leader of his neighborhood association and served on the board of Citizens for Public Accountability.   He is a long-time coach and youth mentor through Kidsports and the YMCA.  He has a strong track record fighting for Lane County's air and water, while working to promote North Lane County as a great place to live and raise kids.

Southeast Portland: Diane Rosenbaum is leaving her House seat (District 42) to run for the State Senate.  Jules Kopel-Bailey is a fabulous choice to replace her.  As a sustainable development specialist for ECONorthwest, he has both the commitment and background to become the House’s go-to person on global warming solutions.  Jules has proven that he will be a true environmental champion, not just a solid environmental vote.

Troutdale: Nick Kahl is a young community advocate who will make the environment a priority.  By contrast, his opponent in the Democratic primary is a Troutdale City Councilor who vocally opposed Measure 49 last fall. Karen Minnis left House District 49 vacant (hooray!). This year we have a real shot of putting a strong pro-environment leader in her place.
