With friends like these, who needs enemies?

My guess is most folks reading the OLCV blog have already voted.

But we probably all have friends who haven't yet -- particularly in the Portland area where turnout is lagging.

Will you let your friends' failure to vote darken Oregon's future?  Or can you take 10 minutes right now and email them to remind them why it's so important to pass 49?

I've been involved in important elections before, so I know it's easy to fall into rhetorical overload.  But I mean it when I say that I believe the future of the Oregon we love is at stake in this election.

Oregon is at a crossroads.

Down one road we continue to implement Measure 37, leading to incredible sprawl that threatens Oregon's farms, forests, and groundwater.

Down the other, we pass Measure 49, clarifying Measure 37 to focus its provisions on those property owners who want to build just a few homes, while eliminating the claims for large subdivisions, big box stores, billboards, and gravel mines where they don't belong.

Don't let your friends' failure to vote send us down the wrong road.  Give them the reminder they need.

If you want to help with the late get-out-the vote in Portland, call the Oregon LCV office at (503) 224-4011.

Or, you can check out the Yes on 49 volunteer action page for many other ways to help in these final few days.

And by the way, if you're talking to folks, tell them their mail must be on its way by Saturday, November 3rd.  Otherwise, they need to drop their ballot off personally.

The ballot drop list is at:
