Clap your hands for Lake Oswego
In the future, when you drive into Lake Oswego you may see a sign that reads "Welcome to a Green Power Community. We exceed EPA guidelines for buying clean, renewable energy."
The EPA announced that it is recognizing Lake Oswego as one of its Green Power Communities. Residents and businesses are helping to take the equivalent of 4,500 cars off the road through their purchases of renewable energy.
This is a great achievement for the city, its residents and its businesses. It is also a great sign that the green leadership coming from Lake Oswego City Hall is continuing and going to be around for some time.
OLCV has endorsed several members of the council in the past, including Mayor Jack Hoffman. The Mayor has provided strong leadership around the issue of renewable energy and I thank him.
I encourage you to call the Mayor and city council members to thank them for their leadership on this imporant issue. Let them know that you want them to continue to take strong stands to protect our water, air and habitats.
I vote for pro-environmental candidates because we can’t afford to sacrifice long-term stewardship for short-term gains.
